Ladu Lemi

Ladu joined the GEF in December 2022 to work on climate change adaptation programs as a Climate Change Specialist with a focus on African and Caribbean Least Developed Countries. During his professional career with non-profits, international organizations, and academia, Ladu worked extensively on areas of program management and capacity building, mainly in Africa.

Prior to joining the GEF, Ladu worked for the United Nations Environment Environment Programme as a Programme Officer, where he supported an EU capacity building program related to the implementation of biodiversity and chemicals and waste multilateral environmental agreements in the African, Caribbean, and Pacific regions. He was also a Programme Officer for the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and a Biotechnology and Genetic Science Lecturer at the University of Juba in South Sudan. He also held various roles with different international organizations including UNDP, GIZ, among others, focusing on areas of livelihoods development and climate change.

Ladu is a Chevening and Open Society Leadership Award Fellow and holds a Master of Science in Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom, and a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, and a Professional Diploma in Global Project Management from Brentwood Open Learning College, Leicester, United Kingdom.
